Meals-on-Wheels is funded (31%) by local donations from individuals, civic groups, businesses, churches, client and participant contributions, East/Central Texas United Way, Rusk County United Way, United Fund of Jacksonville,  Anderson County Commissioners' Court, Palestine Junior Service League, Cherokee County Commissioners' Court and (69%) federal and state grants.  Fund raising efforts include, “Wheels for Meals,” as well as planned /escorted senior tours.  The second Saturday of each month is the Pancake Breakfast  sponsored by and held at Applebee’s Restaurant.

You can support our special work in a variety of ways. An outright gift of cash, stock or personal property can be put to immediate use. Also, you can designate your gift as a Memorial Gift or an Honor Gift of Celebration. A Planned Gift for the future can allow you to make a larger gift than would otherwise be possible - perhaps with income or estate tax benefits or with variable or fixed income for your life or the life of someone you care about. If you have an unwanted vehicle, no matter what the condition, simply call us. We will arrange for a convenient pick-up of the vehicle, whether it is running or not.  In return, you will receive a receipt for the amount the vehicle was sold for, which may be tax deductible.

“Wheels for Meals” is primarily an automobile donation program, but RVs, boats, motorcycles, golf carts, etc. are gratefully accepted. It is a convenient and easy way to help those in need! Applebee's in Palestine serves breakfast every Saturday morning from 8 - 10 a.m. The 2nd Saturday of every month benefits Meals on Wheels.  The meal is all you can eat pancakes, sausage and bacon for $5.  This runs through the end of 2007.
