Meals-on-Wheels makes nutritional supplements available at cost to those that need additional nourishment in their diets. Maybe a person is not getting all of the nutrients needed everyday by eating well-balanced meals, or perhaps a person is unable to eat solid foods.   On the other hand, maybe he or she is just skipping some meals altogether. A liquid nutritional supplement such as Ensure provides a source of complete, balanced nutrition to help a person with their additional nutritional needs.   All that is needed to qualify is a doctor’s  prescription and a completed intake form.  Ensure Plus is available to those who need extra protein in their diet.  Glucerna  is also available at a higher cost for those who are diabetic, or simply need to be on a lower calorie diet. 

Meals-on-Wheels of Palestine , Inc. is a community-based not-for-profit organization that serves needy elderly and disabled persons throughout Anderson, Cherokee and Rusk Counties. Founded in 1976, the organization began serving home-delivered meals in Palestine, in January of 1977. Meals on Wheels was contracted to serve Cherokee County in 1989 and Rusk County in 1990 . The program currently serves an average of 900 meals per day, five days per week.
