Volunteers
Meals-on-Wheels could not operate one day without the help of its volunteers.

Over 65 caring volunteers deliver our meals Monday through Friday. They not only deliver nutritious meals, they also help to ensure the safety of our clients.

Volunteers have  found  clients who had fallen .  Help was called immediately. The volunteers were able to prevent potentially dangerous situations. Daily contact is as important as the meals we serve.

A meal route takes approximately 45 minutes to deliver with convenient pick-up sites located throughout each county, in each community. Pick-up sites for Anderson County include Palestine, Frankston, and Elkhart.  Pick-up sites in Cherokee County are in Jacksonville, Rusk, and Alto.  The  pick-up site in Rusk County is the senior center in Henderson..

Volunteers can also help in our sites by assisting as pick-up site volunteers some clerical duties, instructors for classes,  host/hostesses for dances, receptionists, money-counters, and lunch servers.

Our diverse volunteers include professionals, retirees, civic club members, church groups, youth groups, and corporate volunteers. Many volunteer with spouses, friends, or young children to teach them the importance of volunteerism and helping one another.

We need and appreciate your help! By volunteering, you help bring love, concern, hope and friendship to the elderly and disabled homebound in our community. If you are interested in helping us in any way, please call our offices:

Home-Delivered Meals
(better known as Meals-on-Wheels)
A meal and a smile can make all the difference! Dedicated and caring volunteers deliver Home-Delivered Meals Monday through Friday around the noon hour. Volunteers give clients a break from the isolation of a very lonely existence. Many times the daily visit from the volunteer is their only contact with the outside world.  Some clients live so far out, however,  that it is not economically feasible for MOW to deliver a hot meal each day.  In those instances , one hot meal and four frozen meals are delivered once per week.
